I have obtained my M.Sc at University of Madras and earned my Ph.D at IIT-Bombay and carried out my Post Doctoral Studies at Academia Sinica, Taiwan. I have joined as a Lecturer at the Department of Chemistry, Pondicherry University in August 2002 and became Reader in September 2006, Associate Professor in September 2009 and Professor in September 2012. I have involved the teaching activities of M.Sc Chemistry program and the research works of (i) Synthesis of metallacyclophanes, (ii) Design of discrete supramolecules, (iii) Luminescence tuning properties, (iv) Molecular recognition capabilities, (v) Anticancer activity studies and (vi) Development CO releasing molecules.

Department of Chemistry has excellent working culture and facilities to carry out research in forefront areas of Chemistry. The research areas focused are: Organic Synthesis, Polymer Chemistry, Green Chemistry, Assymmetric Synthesis, Drug Design and Medicinal Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry, Supramolecular Chemistry, Bio-Inorganic Chemistry, Inorganic Photo Chemistry, Nanomaterial, Physical Chemistry, Solid- State Chemistry, Magnetic Resonance, Theoretical Chemistry, Photocatalysis, Electro Chemistry, Crystal Engineering, Inorganic Photochemistry, Porphyrin Chemistry. The instrumental facilities present at the Department are: HRMS, NMR (400 and 60 MHz), EPR (X-band), Single Crystal XRD, FT-IR, GC-MS, HPLC, Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, C/H/ N/S analyzer, UV-Vis spectrometer, Fluorescence spectrometer and cyclic voltammeter. The Department has excellent computational facility and computer networking for both intra and internet facilities. Sophisticated instruments like XPS, AFM, HR-TEM are available in the centralized facility. Every faculty has individual laboratory with good research facilities to carry out specific-area of research. The scholars have access to several online journals and databases such as Sci-finder and Scopus. The faculties have research collaborations with other Departments of the University/National/International research laboratories. Scientific seminars, invited lectures and group discussions are constantly held for the benefit of Ph.D. research scholars and M. Sc. students. The Department also conducts national and international conferences and seminars to strengthen the research activities.
Sophisticated analytical instruments available in the Department of Chemistry, Pondicherry University and the details of User Fee charges are given below. We welcome researchers to utilize them by paying required fees as per terms and conditions of Pondicherry University, Pondicherry, India.
a Amount is for the first 4 hours; Additional hours will be charged @ 1/4th charge per hour. b Along with each sample (of not more than 1 mg) 3 clean empty 2 mL glass vials of highest quality should be provided. If not, handling charges of Rs. 200/- per sample will be levied. c Spectroscopic grade solvents should be provided by the user; if not additional charges of Rs. 200/- per sample will be levied.
