  • The UGC – Human Resource Development Centre (Formerly Academic Staff College) at Pondicherry University is dedicated to providing various training programs to teachers, researchers, and academic administrators to improve their skills and knowledge in their respective fields. Since its establishment in 1987, the center has been organizing various Orientation/ Faculty Induction Programmes and Refresher Courses, Short-term Programmes, Summer Schools, And Interaction Programs for Ph.D Scholars, as well as special workshops and training programmes on Information and Communication Technology, Green Technology, and Knowledge Management.
  • The FIPs aim to enhance the teaching and research abilities of newly appointed faculty members and prepare them to be effective educators and researchers. The program also focuses on helping faculty members understand their roles and responsibilities, both within the university and in society as a whole.
  • The UGC-HRDC of Pondicherry University conducts FIPs regularly, and they are mandatory for all newly appointed faculty members in universities and colleges. The duration of the program is generally four weeks (30 days), and it covers various topics, including:
    • Module 1: Higher Education and its Ecosystem evolved
    • Module 2: The Importance of Curriculum designing, Outcome based learning & Choice based credit system
    • Module 3, The components of Teaching, Learning and Assessment
    • Module 4: The Technology for Teaching and assessment of I-generation
    • Module 5: Personal-Emotional Development and Counselling system in Module 5.
    • Module 6: Research, Professional Development and Academic Leadership.
    • Module 7: Academic Integrity
    • Module 8: The Constitutional Values, Human Rights & Fundamental Duties
    • Module 9: Environmental Consciousness and Sustainable Development Goals and finally in
    • Module 10: Strategic Planning and Management.
  • The FIPs are conducted by experienced trainers and experts in their respective fields. The program includes lectures, interactive sessions, case studies, group discussions, and hands-on training to provide a comprehensive learning experience for the participants.
  • Upon completion of the FIP, the participants are expected to have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles as educators and researchers. They are also encouraged to share their experiences and learning with their colleagues and students, thereby contributing to the overall improvement of the higher education system in India, and the HRDC-PU strives to fulfill their mandate.
  • The University Grants Commission (UGC) is the apex body responsible for the coordination, determination, and maintenance of standards of higher education in India.
  • The UGC-HRDC of Pondicherry University offers various refresher courses for college and university teachers to upgrade their knowledge and skills. These refresher courses are aimed at enhancing the teaching and research abilities of college and university faculty members. The courses are typically conducted for a duration of two weeks, and cover a wide range of subjects.
  • The UGC-HRDC of Pondicherry University offers a variety of short-term courses in various fields. These courses are aimed at providing faculty members with the necessary skills and knowledge to improve their professional skills or enhance their career prospects.
  • The UGC provides financial assistance to participants in the form of travel, accommodation, and course fees. Participation in UGC refresher courses is highly beneficial for college and university teachers, as it helps them keep abreast of the latest advancements in their fields and improves their teaching and research skills.
  • The HRDC-PU has a beautiful building that houses all its academic and administrative facilities under one roof, including classrooms, residential accommodation, library and documentation centre, canteen, and dining hall. The classrooms are spacious, with excellent cross ventilation and high-tech facilities including interactive smart board to enhance the learning experience of participants.

The UGC – Human Resource Development Centre (UGC-HRDC) of Pondicherry University has been established to meet the professional training needs of the teaching community. Its primary objective is to bring Resource Persons who are experts in their respective fields to impart knowledge and create an environment for the enhancement of pedagogical and domain skills of teachers in higher education. The UGC-HRDC offers various courses such as Faculty Induction Programmes, Refresher Courses, and Short-Term Courses to enhance the advancement of knowledge of the teachers in the chosen disciplines.

The UGC-HRDC of Pondicherry University aims to widen the intellectual horizon of the participants by exposing them to leaders in the field. The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India has designed Faculty Induction Programmes (FIPs) to improve the quality of higher education in the country by providing newly appointed faculty members with the necessary training and skills to meet the challenges of teaching, research, and administration.

The HRDC-PU wishes all its participants a memorable and useful stay in the Pondicherry University Campus. By participating in the courses offered by the HRDC-PU, teachers can enhance their professional and teaching skills, which will benefit them in their academic careers.

ADMISSION FEE

To apply for the course, each participant must pay a non-refundable admission fee of Rs. 1000. This fee must be paid in the Indian Bank, Pondicherry University Branch by online remittance into Savings Bank Account 413261534. IFSC Code IDIB000P152

Download the application form from the website or get in person from the HRDC office.

Filled in application (duly signed by the signature of the Principal / Registrar (Head of the University)) should reach the Director, UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, Silver Jubilee Campus, Pondicherry University, Puducherry – 605 014.

The selected applicant will receive the provisional selection letter well in advance before the commencement of the programme (through e-mail / letter). The selection letter is must for participating in the programme and the selection letter must be submitted to HRDC office at the time of admission along with Relieving Order.
