International Relations – Study In India

About

The position of Dean – International Relations was initiated in July 2019 for providing a single window contact person access for students and teachers. From the International Relations Section we support students for Inbound and Outbound Student Exchange Programs under various partnerships and Memoranda of Understanding MoU for collaborations with partner institutions of repute both in India and abroad. We also assist Foreign students seeking admission into Postgraduate (PG), Five-year Integrated courses and PhD programs offered by the university. Study in India Program (SIP) The Study in India Program is a window for short-term customized programs or standard modules for students from abroad as well as full-time admissions into our standard courses on offer as per the Prospectus for Admissions released every year. Foreign students may study full PG, 5-year Integrated and PhD programs offered in the university. Students may also study for a semester or two semesters choosing from various courses available in the University under the Choice Based Credit Scheme CBCS on transfer of credits basis. Internships for PG and collaboration for projects for PhD research and post-doctoral programs with our Professors can be worked out with prior arrangements with Professors and students from partner universities. Such programs are open as Exchange Programs under MoUs or on open application requests from any foreign higher education institution. Application Form SIP is also offered to groups of students accompanied by a faculty member for short duration specially customised and designed Cultural Immersion Programs as well as Specialized Expertise Programs from specific departments to share scientific expertise and exposure available from our faculty and laboratories. Cultural Immersion Programs will usually be offered with content from the liberal arts and performing arts, history of India, anthropology and sociology, gender studies, tourism, languages departments, and so on to give a short one week to ten days introduction to the Indian multicultural panorama for foreign student groups who look for a people-to-people cultural exchange experience. Specialized Expertise Programs may be designed for in-depth workshop mode interactions with professors for sharing knowledge and research and training participants for acquiring niche skill sets that may need the use of laboratory techniques, library resources, research publications, on a need-based request from any higher educational institution to specific departments of Pondicherry University.

The MTech Green Energy Technology and MA South Asian Studies, are for students from the SAARC countries, sponsored by the South Asia Foundation that has funded the UMISARC UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute for South Asian Regional Cooperation and the Centre for Green Energy Technology in the university.   

Pondicherry University is on the panel of universities that is linked with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations ICCR, one of the agencies of the Government of India providing scholarships to foreign students to study in Indian universities of repute.

Pondicherry University has always had active collaborations with higher educational and scientific institutions of repute both from India and abroad. We welcome MoUs and the Dean – International Relations facilitates the process of entering into good and effective partnerships that contribute to academic enrichment and opportunities for students and teaching staff mobilities, both inbound and outbound. Joint conferences and workshops to share state of the art expertise are strongly encouraged.

MoUs with many foreign institutions have been signed and there is active engagement through International Seminars and Webinars, Workshops, Student Exchange Outbound and Inbound with various departments of Pondicherry University to partner universities in France, Germany, Australia, Canada, Taiwan, to mention a few recent ones.

The Suggested Format for MoU is as shown here. However, partner institutions and PU may modify for their specific needs keeping the spirit of the MoU intact. We support the need for exchanging hard copies physically signed by all parties for scientific institutions and direct departments of the Government of India as per the regulations governing such agreements.
