Message from the Head of the Department

Greetings!

The Department of Economics offers a four-year B.A. (Hons), a two-year Post-graduation, and Ph.D. programmes in Economics. These are taught by a team of competent and passionate faculty members whose commitment to teaching and research forms the cornerstone of the Department’s success.

We are dedicated to providing a comprehensive and dynamic learning environment that enables students to gain an in-depth understanding of economic concepts, theories, and practical applications. Our curriculum is deeply connected to real-world contexts through extensive fieldwork, collaborations with consultancy agencies and NGOs, and practical exposure.

Our Department emphasizes both primary and secondary data-driven research, applying advanced econometric and statistical models to produce impactful findings. The consistent publication of faculty and research scholars in reputed academic journals stands as a testament to our research excellence.

We are equipped with a state-of-the-art research and computer centre, as well as a well-resourced library. A unique initiative—the newly established Knowledge Hub—has become a focal point for students preparing for competitive exams like UGC-JRF and IES. This hub offers access to soft and hard copies of academic resources and curated video content across various subjects.

What sets us apart is the unwavering dedication of our faculty members. They not only organize academic events like conferences, workshops, and special lectures but also provide individual mentorship to ensure that students grasp conceptual foundations and gain hands-on experience with analytical software tools.
