B.A Honours in Economics programme is a four year regular programme at Pondicherry University offered from academic year 2024-25 as per NEP. Following NEP structure, the programme provides options to students to exit at different year with Certificate/Diploma/ Degree. A student completing the courses for four years with a dissertation will get B.A (Hons) in Economics with Research. Similarly, a student completing the courses of four years without dissertation work will get B.A (Hons) in Economics.  They will pursue additional courses in lieu of dissertation.  This programme also provides option to students to exit at the end of third year   with a BA Degree in Economics (Please refer regulation for further details on exit options). The curriculum and syllabi for the programme is international standard and the same is meticulously developed to carter to the need of job market and same time it will provide strong foundation for research and seamless movement for higher studies. The programme emphasizes on economic theory, quantitative methods, ability enhancement courses, value added and life skill courses, and skill based courses. It emphasizes both theory and skill based trainings to students.
