Prof. Amaresh Samantaraya is presently working as a Professor in the Department of Economics, Pondicherry University. He has experience of teaching and research in economics stretching over two decades. Before joining Pondicherry University he worked as an economist in the Reserve Bank of India (1999-2010), and joined Pondicherry University in July 2010. His teaches papers on econometrics, money and banking, growth theories, and Indian economy, and his area of research interest include monetary policy, banking developments, inter-regional disparity, etc. He has written a large number of research papers in reputed professional journals in economics and finance. He has also written a book on conduct of monetary policy in India. He is recipient of Best Teacher Award from Pondicherry University for the years 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2018. He has a visiting faculty in IIM Kozhikode, TAPMI Manipal, XIMB Bhubaneswar, and RBI Staff College, Chennai.
