Dr. Sujatha Vijayaraghavan
With thirty-four years of teaching experience at the Department of English,Pondicherry University, having offered almost all the courses in the Post Graduate syllabus, designing and teaching several new areas such as Indian Literatures, Colonial Writings on India, Feminist Studies and Oral Literatures, my specialization covers the fields of Postcolonial Literatures, Oral Literatures, Indian Writings in English and more importantly Translation, with an equally active record in research guidance. The translation of Tribal and Folklore from various dialects of Tamil to English (Orient Blackswan) is a pioneer contribution in the area, foregrounding the unique and individual identity of tribal lore and literature as a distinct body from folklore at large. Other translation works published by Sahitya Akademi and a long-listed novel for the Man Asian Prize (Penguin)are some of the other publications.
