- CENTRAL INSTRUMENTATION FACILITIES Excellence in teaching and research by Science Schools need state-of-the-art sophisticated equipments, various workshops and support facilities. These equipments and facilities help the faculty, research scholars and students to carry out globally competitive R & D in basic and applied sciences. Since individual researchers may not be able to generate huge research funds for the research instruments, a few years back Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) was started in Pondicherry University with a mission to enrich the resources on a shared basis for promoting R and D with the following objectives.
- To strengthen technological infrastructure to carry out advanced research in various science disciplines under one roof and make their services available to academic schools and departments.
- To provide guidance for acquisition of data and train personnel in operation and maintenance of Sophisticated Instruments
- To organize short-term courses/workshops on the use and application of various spectroscopic and analytical techniques for students, teachers and technical personnel from our University, affiliated institutions, universities and industry in the region.
- CENTRAL ANIMAL HOUSE FACILITY Central Animal House Facility (CAHF) at Pondicherry University was established in 2008 to accomplish the requirements of various investigators from different departments in Pondicherry University. CAHF is registered with the committee for the purpose of control and supervision of experiments on animals (CPCSEA), Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, New Delhi (Registration Number: 1159/GO/Re/S/08/CPCSEA All activities associated to laboratory animal research at Central Animal House Facility (CAHF) at Pondicherry University are performed as per the guidelines of CPCSEA, New Delhi as well as institutional guidelines under the supervision of Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC). Central Animal House Facility (CAHF) at Pondicherry University is located in a secluded corner of the campus, away from noise and pollution, providing an excellent environment for animals. The facility is equipped for small animal experimentation with quarantine and experimental rooms for rodents and rabbits. The Animal House is conventional type of animal house with each species housed in individual rooms, in which the temperature, humidity, dark and light cycles are monitored. The animal species are being used for various research projects approved by the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC). Health status of the animals is being monitored by a Veterinary Doctor.
- EDUCATIONAL MULTIMEDIA RESEARCH CENTRE (EMMRC) Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMMRC) was established by the University Grant Commission (UGC) in Pondicherry University under Tripartite MOU between UGC, Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC) and Pondicherry University. The University Grants Commission fully funds the EMMRC and supervised by the Pondicherry University is first of its kind in the entire Puducherry Region i.e., Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, Yanam, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.
