Dr. SM. Sundarapandian received his PhD in Forest ecology in Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai in 1998 and pursued Post-doctorate in the same University for two years. He worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany, Saraswathi Narayanan College from December 2000-April 2009 and is an Assistant professor in Pondicherry University from April 2009 then Associate Professor form April 2013 to present. He has 20 years of teaching and 27 years of research experiences. His areas of expertise include Forest ecology, Biodiversity & conservation, Sacred groves, Tree Population dynamics, Ecosystem structure & functional processes, Medicinal botany, Soil biology, Climate change & carbon mitigation – Carbon stock assessment and Green synthesis of nanoparticles and its application to the environment. He has published 86 research articles and has made 107 presentations in both national and international conferences. His articles have 1056 citations as on 25-06-2020.
