M.B.A. Master of Business Administration

The MBA is a two-year regular flagship programme of the Department of Management Studies, School of Management, Pondicherry University offered since 1986. With 37 batches, it has gained strength in terms of its market standing and 2300+ strong alumni network all around the globe. The current sanctioned strength is 168 seats [which includes 148 through PG-CUET score, + 2 Andaman & Nicobar + 18 Foreign/NRI] , besides seats for Indian Army and Air force under MoU, which ensures diversity of students. It offers dual specialisation in the areas of Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Operations & Systems besides focusing on analytics, skills and strategy with impetus on innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship. It orients students on foundation courses on business and core functional areas of management in the first year and provides application-oriented elective courses in the second year. Two-week entrepreneurship internship and eight-week major project ensure hands-on experience in the industry. Besides, they interact with experienced and cherry-picked corporate professionals by way of invited guest lectures (DMS Talk Series by alumni, academic experts and industry experts both National and International), go for industrial visits, participate in management meets and seminars. SYNAPSE, a Flagship annual Industry Institute Interface Event, trains the students on their organisational and leadership skills and gives them an opportunity to update themselves about the current industry practices. MILAN, an annual Alumni Day gives vistas to interact with alumni network, who occupy very high and coveted positions in industry, government and academia in India and abroad. Highly qualified and experienced faculty members guide students and motivate them to shine as all-rounders which attracts top core manufacturing, service, IT, banking, insurance, retail companies among others visit campus for placements.

Orientation on marketing management; Application oriented courses on consumer behaviour, services marketing, CRM, internet marketing, brand management, integrated marketing communication, Retail management, rural marketing, social marketing, social media marketing, marketing analytics, communication skills workshops and selling & negotiation workshops.

Human Resources

Orientation on human resources management; Application oriented courses on industrial relations & labour legislations, global HR practices, training & development, HRIS, Knowledge Management, cross cultural management, compensation management, management of change and development, strategic HRM and HR analytics.

Operations & System

Orientation on operations management, quality management and management information system; Application oriented courses on total quality management, advanced production management, DBMS, DSS, supply chain management, fundamentals of six sigma, software project management, computer integrated manufacturing and supply chain analytics.

Who can prefer this Course


Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% of marks. Admissions will be based on PG-CUET scores.  
As per PG - Common University Entrance Test (PG-CUET) conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA)
