M.Sc. Quantitative Finance

M.Sc. Quantitative Finance Program was started by the Department of Statistics during 2012 under UGC innovative program- teaching and research in interdisciplinary and emerging areas. Being an inter-disciplinary program, it has a blend of courses from the areas of Finance, Commerce, Economics, Statistics and Computer Science. Apart from the regular and rigorous academic coursework, students have also cleared NCFM and NISM Certification for various financial/capital market-related bodies. Several students have also cleared the Bloomberg Market Concepts Certification through Pondicherry University’s Bloomberg Terminal available in the Library. The program has also maintained a 100% academic pass percentage over the years. Enrichment lectures by professionals/Industrial Experts and face to face/ virtual workshops/training regarding stock market trading/placements and group discussions which is organized on a regular basis helps in improving communication skills, gaining expert knowledge, networking with others and confidence. The compulsory internships during the course help the students to gain work experience. Regular internship providers are RBI,NABARD, LSE, MOSPI , banks and stock brokerage companies etc. The M.Sc. Quantitative Finance Program has had an outstanding placement track record since its inception. It has one of the best placement track records in the university over the last eight academic years. The average placement percentage in the last three years has been above 90% .

Entrance examination
The entrance examination is similar to that of any standard All India Management Admission tests (on the lines of CAT/ GMAT/GRE) with objective type questions in General English, Reasoning, Problem Solving and decision making, basics of Computer Science, General Knowledge and Contemporary Business Issues.
