LL.M. (Criminal Justice and Human Rights)

The School of Law focuses on quality teaching and research in law through the On-Campus One Year Master of Law (LL.M) programme. Besides the traditional classroom lectures, the school uses diverse modes of teaching, like tutorials, group discussions, seminars and case study methods. This course also includes a scrupulous internship programme in order to equip the students with practical experiences in the relevant field. Currently, there are three branches of specializations offered on the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). This One-year LL.M is a regular, full-time intensive programme on trimester mode. The curriculum is structured in such a way that the pass outs from the school are well trained to obtain coveted positions in the corporate world in addition to the regular avenues in the legal profession, teaching and research.

LL.M. (Criminal Justice and Human Rights)

This specialization is perpetually in demand amongst the students. This course exposes them to a various issues and perspectives relating to Criminal Justice and Human Rights. It covers a wide range of substantive laws on all major areas including General Principles of Criminal Jurisprudence, Human Society and Crimes, Human Rights in India, International Human Rights Law, Victimology and Penology, International Criminal Law and Criminal Justice, Law relating to Evidence and Forensic Sciences to Criminal Justice Research and Policy Development along with a few courses on gender and law. The developments and opportunities in this field are never-ending. From judicial officers and civil servants to International human rights activists; from practicing advocates to members of NGOs; from academics to research, the students can pursue any of these.

Eligibility for Admission
  1. In order to be eligible for admission into the two years LL.M. an applicant should have successfully completed LL.B./B.A.LL.B. or equivalent recognized by Pondicherry University and the Bar Council of India.
  2. Further, the candidates applying for admission to this course should have obtained LL.B.  Degree or its equivalent with not less than 50% of marks (45% in case of SC/ ST) in the  aggregate in all the 3 years/ 5years of B.L/ L.L.B Degree Course.

Admission procedure
The in-take for LL.M. programme is 40. The admission to the above courses shall be made on the basis of Merit list generated from CUET score.

Evaluation
Internal Assessment is 40% of Marks. The internal assessment marks shall be given as per the following breakup:
  1. Internal written exam: 20 marks
  2. Written assignment/ Project Submission: 10 marks
  3. Seminar Presentation and Viva Voce: 05 marks
  4. Attendance (as per SAMS) 05 marks
  • Total: 40 marks.
End Semester examination is for 60%marks. All examinations will be conducted by the School of Law. End Semester Examination would be a 3-hour written test, consisting of Questions in Part A and Part B signifying long and short answer type questions.
