Dr. V. V. Ravi Kanth Kumar

About
Research Area

Dr. V.V.Ravi Kanth Kumar who joined in Department of Physics, Pondicherry University in May 2006 got a Ph.D. from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati in 1994. He worked as a Research Associate at the University of Hyderabad during 1995-2000. Then he worked for 4yrs at the University of Bath, UK in a pioneer group of Prof.Philip St.J.Russell where he fabricated first Tellurite Photonic Crystal fiber and demonstrated supercontinuum in SF6 glass photonic crystal fiber. Ravi also worked for one year in ORC, University of Southampton. At Pondicherry University he started the Electronics Engineering Department. His group mainly focuses on Glass/Glass-ceramics/Glass-nanocomposites with a focus on White-light generation/ laser-materials (rare-earth-doped) and random metamaterials.
