Prof. Sampada Kumar Swain , working as Head, Department of Tourism Studies, has obtained all his degrees (Graduation, PG, Ph.D. & D.Litt.) from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. He served in RCM, Bhubaneswar prior to joining Pondicherry University in 2004 as a lecturer. He was on deputation to IGNTU, Amarkantak, MP as Professor from 2012 to 2018. He published three dozen research papers, two edited books, and one reference book. Prof. Swain has co-authored a book titled “Tourism Principles and Practices, published by OUP. His areas of research interest include: Sustainable Tourism, Ecotourism, Responsible Tourism, Community-based Tourism, Destination Image and Social Tourism.

As an achievement, received the first Ph.D. in Tourism Management in the State of Odisha in 2003 and D.Litt., in Tourism Management in 2013
As an achievement, privileged to have played the role of founder in establishing the Department of Tourism Management as Head at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University and Internal Quality Assurance Cell as the first Coordinator in 2014 and coordinated the first NAAC peer team visit to IGNTU, Amarkantak, MP in 2016
