Dr. R. Arun Prasath

Research Area

Dr. R. Arun Prasath has a Chemical Science/Materials doctoral degree from Anna University, India. He received the prestigious DAAD fellowship (1999-2001) for his doctoral research work at Max-Planck Institute for Polymer Research, Mainz, Germany. He worked as a material researcher in several prestigious institutes; as a research associate at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India (2002-2004), a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom (2004-2006) and University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia (2006-2008), as a senior researcher in Ghent University (2008-2010) with unique fellowship called BOF and with prestigious Raman fellowship to work in University of Wyoming, USA. He has published 52 peer-reviewed journal articles, more than ten published articles in proceedings and book chapters, co-inventor in 3 International patents and 2 European patent applications. He has visited the USA, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Italy, and Bangladesh for professional development. He has presented more than 80 oral presentations at various conferences/seminars/courses/invited talks. He was actively involved in teaching and researching advanced materials for renewable energy from 2010 onwards at Pondicherry University, India. He was involved as PI/Co-PI in projects funded by DST, SERB, MNRE, and ICSSR. He has guided nearly 35 students on their MTech degree projects. Three Ph.D. students have obtained their doctoral degrees under his guidance on material development for solar cells, bio-energy, battery, and fuel cells. He is also actively involved in outreach projects/service activities promoting renewable energy and sustainable activities.
