Dr. Pradeep Kumar Parida is a Professor in the Department of Sociology, Pondicherry University, Puducherry. He has been in the field of academics for the last 20 years and more. Parida has a keen interest in Sociology of Development and Sociology of Disasters, importantly in the social dimensions of environmental risks and hazards, has published extensively on the topic including, disaster context and causation, human dimensions of environmental hazards, community response to disaster, the political economy of disaster and, disaster and development etc. His book ‘Women and Natural Disaster: the Gendered Perspective’ is quite popular in the field of Disaster and Development research. He has successfully guided more than dozen of MPhil and Ph.D. scholars. He has also completed several projects.
