Dr. Kamalaveni, Associate Professor Centre for Women’s Studies Pondicherry University, Puducherry holds doctorate in Women’s Studies and is specialized in Reproductive health and gender issues. She has completed 2 field action projects and published one book to her credit. She has edited five books and presented and published more than 49 papers numerous national and international conferences, seminars and refereed journals and national proceedings. She is has produced 6 Ph.D. Scholars and 4 scholars under her guidance. 55 PG students have completed their project successfully under her guidance. She has attended 35 seminars, workshops, conference, orientation programs, refreshers course and training programs to enrich her academic knowledge. She has served as resource person for 250 programs and addressed more than 30,000 college students, 2500 school students 1000 rural women and 750 college teachers. She has been invited in many seminars and conference as guest speaker. She has served as rapporteur for seminars and chaired many sessions. She has also served as chief guest for international women’s day celebration and inauguration of Women’s Cell. She is also editor of the news letter published annually in the department. She is member in professional bodies like National Women’s Studies Association, USA, BHUTA, RAWS and IAWS and academic bodies like Board of Studies, Bharathiar University. She secured first place in mobilizing the project funds during the period 2016 to 2020” by Bharathiar University on 5th February 2021and received certificate of Appreciation for getting research project during the period 2019 to 2020 on national science day 01.03.2021 by Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. She has been endorsed with “Young Educator and Scholar” Award by the reputed National Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development (NFED), Coimbatore, in recognizing her invaluable contribution to teaching and scholarly activities in the year 2015. In addition, she has also been endorsed with “Young Scientist Award” by the reputed Venus International foundation, Chennai in recognizing her valuable research activities carried out in women and health in the Department of Women’s Studies in December 2015.She has coordinated and organized 42 seminars, conference and training programs with funding from various national funding agencies. She has received total grant of Rs.21, 84,550/- (Twenty lakhs eighty-four thousand five hundred and fifty only) to organize various conference and seminars from National Commission for Women, National Human Rights Commission, and Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi. She has completed the project entitled “Women’s Contribution to Farm Based Economies and their Access to Land Rights- A Study in TamilNadu”- with the funding support of Rs.22,14,450/- from Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi during the period from 2019 to 2021. Minor Research Project entitled “Implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 by the Stockholders of Coimbatore District – An Intervention Study” with the funding support of Rs. 4,47000/- (Rupees Four Lacs Forty-Seven Thousand) from National Commission for Women, New Delhi was also completed by her during 2019 -2022 in the caliber of Project director. She served as Project Co-Investigator for the project entitled “Screening and Create the Registry of Disease pattern in Tribal Communities and provide the Health Care Strategies, genetic Counselling and create the awareness to Tribal women Population in Tamil Nadu, India” funded by: NRDMS – DST with Sanctioned Amount of Rs.16,95,127/-and completed it from 2015 to 2020. Currently she is serving as Principal investigator for the project entitled “To conduct a survey of women population in selected area and create a directory of breast and cervical cancer patients wide letter number BU/RUSA2.0/R7-R1/BCTRC/2020/BCTRC-SR10 dated 14.12.2020” sanctioned by Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) with the amount of Rs.8, 88,000/- (Eight Lakhs eighty-eight thousand only). Currently she is the Indian partner for the Inter Country project in ERASMUS-EDU-2022-EMJM-DESIGN entitled “EMJM Rural areas and violence against women” with SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA University, Spain, University of Cape Verde, Cape Verde, CIESAS-Unidad Regional Sureste, Mexico, and University Federal of Paraíba, Brazil with the project funding of Forty-Four lakhs forty-seven thousand eight hundred and sixty-three only. She has travelled to countries like Srilankha, California, Oregon, Florida, USA, Dubai, Madrid, Santiago, Toledo and Salamanca, Spain, and Singapore for conference, project meeting and Book workshops.
