Research Area
Dr. Gurjeet Kaur is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ecology and Environmental Sciences at Pondicherry University, following three years of service as Guest Faculty. She holds an M.Phil. and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the Centre for Pollution Control and Environmental Engineering, Pondicherry University. Her doctoral research was on termigradation—a novel technology that harnesses termites for the bioconversion of ligneous waste—alongside inventory of termite species across Puducherry.
Dr. Kaur was a member of the European Union-funded Erasmus+ project, “URGENT” (Urban Resilience and Adaptation for India and Mongolia: curricula, capacity, ICT and stakeholder collaboration to support green & blue infrastructure and nature-based solutions) from March 2022 to July 2024. In 2011, she visited Japan under the prestigious JENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) programme funded by Japan Government on Environment and Community Revitalization in Tokyo. That same year, she received the Best Paper Award for her research on termite diversity at the National Symposium on Biodiversity at Gandhigram Rural Institute, Tamil Nadu.
