Dr. Gurjeet Kaur

Research Area

Dr. Gurjeet Kaurr did MPhil and PhD in Environmental Engineering from Centre for Pollution Control and Environmental Engineering, Pondicherry University. In her PhD, she has conducted survey of termite species in and around Puducherry and worked on a novel technique of termigradation (harnessing termites for ligneous waste). She has worked as a Guest Faculty in the Department of Ecology and Environmental Sciences for three years before joining as an Assistant Professor.

Her primary areas of interest include Pollution Mitigation specialization in Solid waste management, Termigradation, Environmental Management and Behavioural Ecology.

During her Doctorate research she was selected in JENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) programme on Environment and Community Revitalization, held at Tokyo, Japan, in 2011 funded by Japan Government.

She has also received Best Paper Award on survey of termites at National Symposium on Biodiversity: Richness, uses, Threat and Conservation, Department of biology, held at GRI, Gandigram, Tamil Nadu, India, 2011.
