Dr Mariappan is currently working as an Associate Professor of Physics with the Physics Department, PondicherryUniversity. Recently, he has been Ranked World Top 2% Scientist list under Applied Physics-Materials (category) by Stanford Uni., USA (2021). He received the M.Sc. degree in Physics from Bharthiyar University, Coimbatore, in 1998, and the Ph.D. degree in 2004 from Pondicherry University, Pondicherry. His main research interests are development of ion conducting solids, metal oxide semi-conductors for advanced battery systems, supercapacitors and gas sensors and bio-c+B39eramics for bone replacements. He also worked as Postdoctoral
Research Fellow in France (2005), Alexander von Humboldt Fellow in Germany (2006-2008), European Research Fellow in England (2007), DFG funded Postdoctoral
Research Fellow in Germany (2009-2010) and visiting Scientist in IGCAR [DAE], Kalpakkam (2010-2012). He worked as an Assistant Professor in Tezpur University (2013), NIT Kurukshetra (2013-2021) and NIT Puducherry (2021-2023) as well.
