The Department of Tourism Studies organised jointly with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) an awareness campaign on Standardisation on 15.3.2023. The campaign was flagged off by Prof.Rajneesh Bhutani, Registrar, Pondicherry University. Dr.R.C.Anu Chandran, Head of the Department welcomed the guests, delegates, faculty, scholars and students and presented the message of collaboration with BIS.

Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor inaugurated the seminar on “Celebrating the Life & Philosophy of Sri Aurobindo” on 28.03.23. As a part of the event, VC launched a book titled “Sri Aurobindo: An Extraordinary Phenomenon” and unveiled photographs of Sri Aurobindo and Mother.

Pondicherry University signs MoU with Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (VUAS), Latvia on 09.03.2023. Prof. Gurmeet Singh, VC presided over the MoU ceremony. Director (SEI&RR), Registrar, Dean (IR), Faculty, Staff & Students were present during the ceremony.

Vice-chancellor, Prof.Gurmeet Singh congratulated Dr.Anu Chandran, Associate Professor & Head (i/c) Dept. of Tourism Studies and Reena Esther Rani, JRF Scholar of the Department for receiving recognition & award in the International Conference on Critical Studies in Tourism organised by Asia Pacific held in British University, Hanoi, Vietnam during 13-17 February, 2023. Prof.K.Tharanikkarasu, Director, SEI&RR was also present.

Dept. of Tourism Studies in association with Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India organised a photo Exhibition Imprint on the occasion of National Tourism Day on Jan 25, 2023. The Nodal Officer of the Ministry of Tourism Puducherry Region Ms. Gayatri Panda inaugurated the event and also delivered a Special Address. Dean, SOM, Prof. Malabika Deo felicitated the occasion.

PU Day Care Centre & Pre-Primary School “Celebrates Women” on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2023. As a part of celebration, events like Mini marathon, Flash Mob, Serve using Millets, Master Chef, Dancing Duo, Kangroo walk etc. have been organised by the Centre.

Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor congratulated Prof.V.Arul, Dept. of Biotechnology for the award of Major Research Project by DBT, New Delhi and Mr.Shekar Khumbha(Research student of Prof.V.Arul) for successfully completing the 42nd Indian Scientific Expedition to Antartica.
