International Conference at Pondicherry University explores Literature’s Role in Social Transformation

Pondicherry University’s Department of English recently organised its two-day International Conference titled “Mirroring Change: Literature and Social Transformation” in honour of Prof K Chellappan, the doyen of Literature in South India on 3rd & 4th October 2024. The event brought together over 450 delegates from India and abroad, including leading experts, researchers, and educators, to discuss the future of literature and its impact on societal transformation. Prof K Tharanikkarasu, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Sarita Boodhoo, a writer and activist from Mauritius, Refugee Rights Activist Tenzin Tsundue, Transgender Rights Activist Ms. Kalki, Anti-Caste Activist Raees Mohammed, Ambedkarite Scholar Prof Aloysius, Prof P Kannan from Karnataka State Women’s University, Prof S Prabahar, Dean of Languages at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University spoke on the occasion. Prof T Marx, Head of the Department of English at Pondicherry University and Dr Harpreet Kaur Vohra, Associate Professor of English and Conference coordinator organized the event.
