M.Sc. Geophysics
Pondicherry University is the only central university in southern India offering MSc in Geophysics, a discipline that applies principles of Physics, Mathematics, and Geology to study Earth’s structure, composition, and dynamic processes. This program blends theoretical knowledge, computational techniques, and field methods to explore subsurface resources, natural hazards, and tectonic processes. The Department of Earth Sciences offers Geophysics and Geology as complementary programs designed to develop expertise in Mineral, Hydrocarbon, and Groundwater Exploration, as well as Natural Hazards, Tectonics, and Crustal Studies. This program equips students with cutting-edge geophysical techniques and prepares graduates for diverse careers in academia, energy, environmental sectors, and disaster management
