M.Sc. Ecology (Offered upto 2025-26)
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
1. To provide students the fundamental concepts and principles of Ecology, 2. To make students aware of the importance of biodiversity and its conservation, 3. To make students to understand the aspects of animal evolution and behaviour, 4. To introduce the modern tools and techniques available to study and understand the biodiversity and ecosystems, 5. To make students to understand the importance of mainstreaming biodiversity conservation into development sectors, 6. To prepare students to take up interdisciplinary research and carriers in the subject.
PROGRAM OUTCOME
The program offers a deep perceptive of ecological theories, principles, and processes that manage ecosystems, including population dynamics, community interactions, and energy flow. Students gain skills in using ecological modeling, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and other tools for ecological research. Graduates are able to evaluate different ecological solutions and management strategies, incorporating scientific, social, and economic perspectives. The program includes extensive fieldwork, where students gain hands-on experience in collecting ecological data, monitoring species, and assessing habitats. Students acquire knowledge in habitat restoration, conservation planning, and species recovery, focusing on preserving biodiversity in the face of human activity and environmental change.
