Dr. Nanda Kishor M S is an Head & Associate Professor at the Department of Politics and International Studies, He is Sri Aurobindo Chair, Coordinator of Centre for Gandhian Studies, Coordinator of SAP-DRS II at Pondicherry University and formerly Head of the Department of Geopolitics and International Relations, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal. He holds an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Political Science from Hyderabad Central University (HCU), Hyderabad, India and completed Postdoc at the University of Leiden, Netherlands, with ERASMUS MUNDUS Fellowship from the European Union. He has been teaching Geopolitics of West Asia, India’s Foreign Policy, Concept of War and Peace in Geopolitics, Terrorism and Asymmetric Conflicts.
He was a recipient of the Short-Term Junior Research Fellowship from UNHCR, Brookings, Government of Finland and MCRG (Kolkata). He visited Hochschule University of Applied Sciences, Bremen, Germany, on a short-term fellowship by the DAAD-sponsored program of HS Bremen in 2012. He was part of the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) in the United States during June-July 2013. He is Advisory Board member of REVA University, Bangalore and INDIC Research Forum, Senior Fellow at Defence Research and Studies (DRaS) in India, Non-Resident Fellow of Middle East Institute New Delhi, Advisor and Subject Expert for COVINTS, a Bangalore based Risk Analyst Company, Analyst at Islamic Theology of Counter-Terrorism (London), Visiting Fellow to AIDIA (Kathmandu), was Features Editor (Security Studies) of Science, Technology and Security forum (MARG-MAHE). He has several publications in journals and edited volumes. His recent book “Reimagining India in the Geopolitics of the 21st Century” has been critically acclaimed for its theme and content. He has four books in pipeline. 1. India and the Great Powers in the Indo-Pacific: Praxis of a Geopolitical Imagination 2. Strategy and Negotiations in International Relations 3. Understanding Perception of South Asian States on Rising India: Integrating Panchamrit with India’s Neighbourhood First Policy 4. The Art of Governing: Revisiting Kautilya’s Arthashastra for the 21st Century. Dr Kishor is a sought after public speaker on Dharma, Arthshastra and Indian Knowledge System apart from the subjects he teaches on Geopolitics and International Relations. He is currently heading a Major Research Project sponsored by ICSSR. He has been a visiting faculty to several HRDC centres, Indian Naval Academy, Mandovi, Goa, College of Air-warfare, Secunderabad and Karnataka Police Academy, Mysore. Dr Kishor has an appetite for languages and can speak 7 languages fluently.
