About
Research Area

Chemistry education plays a vital role in shaping the scientific landscape, equipping students with analytical skills and fostering innovation in chemical research. A distinguished career in chemistry education and research exemplifies a commitment to both pedagogy and scientific discovery.
With an academic foundation built upon securing first rank and a gold medal at Annamalai University, followed by the successful qualification of the UGC JRF examination and completion of a Ph.D. at Madurai Kamaraj University, the trajectory of scholarly pursuit is marked by dedication to advancing chemical sciences. The early years of lecturing in private colleges provided valuable experience in engaging students with theoretical and practical applications of chemistry.
The transition to the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in 1997 allowed for five and a half years of service in shaping national educational policies and fostering chemistry education at a broader level. This period was instrumental in developing teaching methodologies that cater to evolving academic needs and scientific advancements. The move to Pondicherry University in 2002 marked a deepened focus on research in organic synthesis, specifically in Diversity-Oriented Synthesis (DOS) through Multi-Component Reactions (MCRs) conducted in water and green solvents—areas that align with the principles of sustainable and environmentally friendly chemistry.
Securing funding from premier agencies such as the University Grants Commission (UGC), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Department of Science and Technology (DST), and Department of Biotechnology (DBT) underscores a strong research foundation. This support has facilitated meaningful contributions to organic synthesis, with findings published in esteemed chemistry journals, thereby enriching the global discourse in the field.
The dedication to chemistry education and green chemistry methodologies highlights a commitment to sustainable scientific practices. Integrating research with pedagogy ensures that the next generation of chemists is equipped with innovative approaches to chemical synthesis, making strides toward environmentally responsible scientific advancements.
