Research Area
A Caring and motivated teacher with 26 years of PG level teaching as well as multidisciplinary research experiences in the field of Earth Sciences. I joined as a lecturer in the Department of Earth Sciences, Pondicherry University, and proud to be one of the founder faculty members of the department of Earth Sciences since its inception in 1994. I did my primary and secondary education in government schools, completed UG and PG degree from reputed Universities, and awarded a Ph.D. from IIT, Kharagpur in 1993. I had an opportunity to teach a diverse subjects of Earth Sciences to M.Sc. student as there were no enough manpower and materials for several years since the creation of the department in 1994. I have guided a large number of students for M.Sc., M.Phil. and M.Tech., theses in addition to Ph.D. dissertation; published a research monograph on Bryozoan fauna in Palaeontologia Indica, Geological Survey of India apart from other articles in reputed journals; undertaken several research projects sanctioned by various government funding agencies; organized and attended many seminars and conferences; presently serving as Head of the Department of Earth Sciences; took administrative responsibilities viz. deputy warden for boys hostel, member of PG board of studies, academic council, the court of Pondicherry university as well as Academic and Administrative committees of other universities and institutions. My current areas of research interest include Cretaceous & Tertiary sediments of Cauvery basin; Micropaleontology & Clay mineralogy of shelf sediments, Bay of Bengal; Beach placer deposits of Tamil Nadu; Micropaleontology & Sedimentology of Estuaries; Groundwater in coastal aquifers of Pondicherry & Tamil Nadu. I always maintain good rapport with fellow faculty members and students and able to resolve problems and conflicts professionally.
