Research Area

Purushothaman is Professor, Centre for South Asian Studies at Pondicherry University. He previously served as the Center Head of the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute of South Asia regional Cooperation and the Center for South Asian Studies, Pondicherry University. Prior Joining to Pondicherry University in 2009, He worked as a lecturer under UGC contractual position at the University of Madras’ Centre for South and Southeast Asian Studies between 2005 and in 2008, and later got appointed as permanent lecturer in the Department of Political Science under the Tamil Nadu Government College Service. During his tenure, he has completed two commissioned projects from ICSSR and UGC. His areas of specialization include South Asian D.culture and water security, India’s foreign policy, India-Nepal ties, sustainable development and climate change in South Asia. Dr. Purushothaman holds Ph.D. in Political science from Pondicherry University and his M.Phil. in Defense and strategic studies at the University of Madras.
