Dr. A. Sankaran is serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Economics at Pondicherry University (A Central University). Prior to joining Pondicherry University, he taught at the Department of Economics, Manonmaniam Sundaranar Univesity, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. He has gained 19 years of experience in teaching, research and extension activities. He has visited 10 countries for academic purpose, among them, chaired 2 technical sessions in international conferences and served as a member of scientific committee in 2 international conferences. Besides, he delivered 2 special lectures one at Thailand and another one at the Laos and also delivered 35 national-level invited talks (including in funded workshops and conferences). He has published 64 research articles (including Sage, Wiley, Springer, Taylor & Francis and Elsevier Journals), Published a book on the Industrial Economy of India and produced 5 Ph.Ds.

He has completed a Major Research Project funded by ICSSR, New Delhi and recently received another one Major Research Project from the same council. He has organized 2 national level conferences and 3 workshops on various aspects funded by ICSSR & UGC. His research interest includes industrial economics, entrepreneurship development, and international trade. In recognition of his academic and research contributions, Prof. A. Sankaran has received the best ‘Educator Award’. And also he has been serving as a guest editor to scrutinize research articles for publication in Sage, Wiley and Springer journals. He has been serving as a member in various professional bodies and committees and also he is a life in a number of academic societies.
