Many challenges faced by people with disabilities or those from marginalized communities do not arise from their conditions alone, but from the barriers they encounter in society—whether physical, economic, or cultural. These barriers limit their full participation and opportunities. Just like other forms of discrimination, such as those based on gender or race, these are also human rights concerns. To address such issues, the Pondicherry University established the Equal Opportunity Cell in the year 2015. Its goal is to support SC, ST, OBC, and persons with disabilities (PwD) by promoting fairness and inclusion.
