The Centre for Foreign Languages at Pondicherry University is committed to fostering global connectivity, intercultural understanding, and inclusive education through the study of world languages. Our mission is to equip students, scholars, and professionals with linguistic proficiency and cultural literacy that empower them to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world and in a rapidly globalising world.
By offering instruction in key global languages — including French, Arabic, German, we provide learners with the tools to access international academic, diplomatic, and professional opportunities. Rooted in the region’s unique historical and cultural heritage, the Centre promotes intellectual growth, cross-cultural exchange, and pathways to global engagement across diverse fields such as diplomacy, technology, science, and the humanities.
Languages like Japanese, Korean and Russian will also soon be introduced, providing students an edge in Asia’s fast-growing technology and innovation sectors.
Revived after a five-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath, the Centre is once again welcoming Students, Scholars, and Faculty to join our Two-Semester certificate programmes.
