As part of National Science Day 2026 celebrations, the Department of Library and Information Science organized an invited lecture on “Energy Independence through Green Energy Technologies” on February 27, 2026. The lecture was delivered by Prof. A. Sreekumar from the Department of Green Energy Technology.  He highlighted that energy independence is essential for a nation’s economic stability, environmental sustainability and national security. Prof. Sreekumar  stressed the  need to transition from conventional energy sources to renewable and sustainable alternatives such as solar, wind, hydro, biomass and green hydrogen. He also discussed how advancements in green energy technologies—including improved solar photovoltaic systems, offshore wind farms, energy storage solutions and smart grid infrastructure—are making clean energy more efficient, affordable, and accessible.
