Prof. T. Shanmuganantham is a Professor of the Department of Electronics Engineering at Pondicherry Central University, Pondicherry.
He received his B.E. degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering from the University of Madras in the year 1996, an M.E. degree in Communication Systems from Madurai Kamaraj University in the year 2000 and a Ph.D. degree (He received a Gold Medal) in the field of Antenna Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirappalli in the year 2010 under the guidance of Prof.S.Raghavan, Senior Professor (HAG-Retd.), Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering, NIT, Tiruchirappalli. He has 27 years of experience in teaching & research currently, he has been a Senior Professor in the Department of Electronics Engineering, School of Engineering & Technology, Pondicherry Central University, Pondicherry, since July 2010. Before this appointment, he worked in the Dept. of ECE, PKIET (A Govt. of Pondicherry Institution), Karaikal and SSN College of Engineering, Chennai. He holds a Google Scholar H-Index of 23 and an i-10 index of 83 with over 2644 citations, Scopus Publications-296 with over 1475 citations and an H-Index of 17, research articles published in Web of Science-134, ORCID-115, IEEE Xplore-184 publications as per database available in researcher id also his name listed Top 10 researcher in Pondicherry University website (https://pondiuni.irins.org) from 2010 to 2020. His research area of interest includes Analysis, Optimization, Design, Development and Characterization of Antennas, Microwave/millimeter-wave/Terahertz Engineering, MEMS/NEMS, RF Design & Technology, Optical Communication Components & Subsystems and Specific antenna design for 5G/6G/7G, MIMO, Array antenna for beam forming and beam steering, Wireless on-body Communications (Wearable Antennas), in-body Communications (Implantable Antennas), Agriculture, Automotive, Healthcare, Satellite, Space, Spiritual, Sports, Wireless and Mobile Industries. He has published 660 papers in Peer-Reviewed Journals and Conference Proceedings and 12 Book Chapters Published in Taylor and Francis, Springer Nature and Elsevier.
Prof. Shanmuganantham is a Fellow of the Antenna Test and Measurement Society (ATMS) elected by ISRO Scientists and also elected as a Senior Member in URSI, Senior Member in IEEE, IEEE Antenna & Propagation Society, IEEE Circuits & System Society, IEEE Microwave Theory & Technique Society, Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India), Fellow of Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers (India),Life Member in ISSS, Semiconductor Society of India, Telemedicine Society (India), CSI (India), Society of ISTE, EMC, ILA, OSI and ISI. In addition, he is a Member of the School Board at Pondicherry University, Chairman of the Board of Studies at Pondicherry University & Affiliated Colleges, Anna University, Annamalai University, Bharathiar University, Thiruvalluvar University, University of Madras, and Christ University. His biography was included in ‘Marquis Who Is Who in the World’, USA in 2010, 2018 & 2019, also his biography was selected in ‘Asia Pacific Who’s Who’ in 2018. He is the Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Progress in Electrical Engineering, ICTACT Journal on Communication Technology; he served as Vice Chair of IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (India Council), New Delhi, from Jan.2015 to Dec.2019. He conceptualized and initiated five flagship IEEE–Sponsored Conferences in India in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022 in the fields of Circuit & Systems and Microwave & Antenna Engineering. Currently, he has been serving as Chairman of the IEEE Antenna Propagation Society (Madras Section) since Jan.2020. (Received Best Society Chair Award for more events organized during the years 2020 & 2022). He received the International Researcher Award from England in 2021, was the recipient of the IEEE Best Researcher Award 2021, and received more than 25 Best Paper Awards from IEEE; and Springer Sponsored Conferences for his enormous Research contributions. He has produced 11 Ph.D. degree candidates successfully under his guidance, and He is currently guiding 07 Doctoral Research Scholars. He has guided more than 100 M.Tech. Projects, so far. He has completed three sponsored projects worth Rs.3 Crores. Currently, an ongoing research project on 5G & RF sponsored Research worth Rs.1 Crore. He is a potential reviewer for IEEE Transaction on Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Transaction on Microwave Theory and Techniques, IEEE Transaction on Electromagnetic Compatibility, IEEE Transaction on Circuits & Systems, IEEE Sensor, IEEE Access, IEEE Letters, IET Journal/Letters, PIER Journals, John Wiley, Elsevier, Springer, Taylor and Francis and many IEEE Conferences. He has been invited to many national and international conferences, and he has lectured extensively at many Universities/Institutions. He visited many countries like the USA, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan in connection with various academic assignments.
