Major Professional Accomplishments
Present Work and Responsibilities (at Pondicherry University)

  • As an Administrator and Manager, has always been proactive, whether it be in establishing essential library infrastructure and innovative value added services or personnel management with excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Infrastructure developed by revamping spaces at the Central Library for transforming it into more functional spaces with irresistible ambience.  Instrumental in the design and decor of an additional space with modern facilities of 50,000 sq.ft. as Library Annexe, establishing a Scholars Hub, Postgraduate Reading Spaces, Conference / Meeting Room, Digital Lounge, Louis Braille Centre for the Differently-abled, Discussions Rooms, Auditorium, Cafeteria, RFID & CCTV surveillance, Fire Alarm, etc. 
  • Innovative and proactive in creating digital library services namely creating a Library Portal to showcase the library resources with access links (2009), Digitizing the complete Theses and being the second University in the country to sign MoU with INFLIBNET to upload the same in Shodhganga (2010), first University to subscribe to `TURNITIN” plagiarism detection tool and made it mandatory for plagiarism check before Ph.D. Thesis submission (2010), Remote Login facility  (2011)for ease of borrowing and returning facility through RFID self check-in and check-out kiosks, Book Drop facility beyond working hours of the Library (2012).
  • Special services were enabled for the Differently-Abled with essential hardware and software, subscription to Book Share services, Braille magazines (2011), etc.  Library was instrumental in the University policy making for free education for the Differently-abled by showcasing their skills for information access through Library.  In fact, Pondicherry University was the first University which bagged the National Award for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (2011) for the inclusive infrastructure and services provided.  Regular increase of subscription to e-content (2.75 lakhs, print - 2.2 lakhs) and Discovery services in the last one decade have resulted in fruitful ROI which is evident by the scaling of research output especially in the last few years: h-index scaling from 33 to 78 and citation index from 6.16 to 9.32.  Periodic orientation, training programmes, Author, Publisher Connect Workshops, Webinars, Seminars, Academic Video screenings and discussions, Research Methodology Workshops and aggressive marketing of e-resources subscribed have made the researchers and faculty more        e-savvy than their counterparts in other Universities.
  • Being one of the 22 Universities for Document Delivery Services among Universities, recently in 2017, Pondicherry University bagged the JGate@eShodhsindhu award instituted by INFLIBNET and Informatics for the Highest User Profile Registration in appreciation of the awareness created by us among the researchers.  Extension services to promote the Library Services through Community Radio, All India Radio talks, interviews and workshops for street children, orphans, etc. are periodically done.
  • Recruitment and training of qualified Library Professionals in 2011 and 2012 enhanced the mega task of providing innovative library services.  Team building and motivation being the mantras of success enabled the personnel to simultaneously hone their qualifications and skills.
