]]> Pondicherry University Professor Wins SDG Visionary Women Award

Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu congratulated Prof. Charumathi. He praised her research leadership and contributions to inclusive development through the SDGs. He said her achievement brings pride to Pondicherry University.

Prof. B. Charumathi from the Department of Management Studies at Pondicherry University has received the SDG Visionary Women Award 2026. She won in the “National Inclusive Impact Leader” category.

The award was given by KSR College of Engineering and IEEE Women in Engineering SBAG during International Women’s Day events on March 7, 2026.

Prof. Charumathi earned this honor for her work on UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Her research covers ESG governance, climate disclosure, gender diversity in leadership, and the Corporate Social Justice Disclosure Index (CSJDI). She also leads entrepreneurship programs as Director of ACIC–PUSH and Coordinator of the Pondicherry University Startup Club.

]]> As part of National Science Day 2026 celebrations, the Department of Library and Information Science organized an invited lecture on “Energy Independence through Green Energy Technologies” on February 27, 2026. The lecture was delivered by Prof. A. Sreekumar from the Department of Green Energy Technology.  He highlighted that energy independence is essential for a nation’s economic stability, environmental sustainability and national security. Prof. Sreekumar  stressed the  need to transition from conventional energy sources to renewable and sustainable alternatives such as solar, wind, hydro, biomass and green hydrogen. He also discussed how advancements in green energy technologies—including improved solar photovoltaic systems, offshore wind farms, energy storage solutions and smart grid infrastructure—are making clean energy more efficient, affordable, and accessible.

]]> The Department of Library and Information Science successfully hosted a two-day workshop on “Accessible eBook Production for Persons with Print Disabilities” on February 4-5, 2026. inaugurated by Prof. R. Sevukan, Dean of the School of Media and Communication, emphasized digital inclusivity and the university’s commitment to accessibility.  Prof. Rekha R. V., Head of the Department, coordinated and detailed about the the importance of creating awareness and providing systematic training on accessible content creation, the event trained 48 participants in creating accessible eBooks for those with print disabilities. A highlight was the expert session by Mr. G. Kumaresan from Bookshare, offering insights into equitable information access. The workshop underscored the importance of awareness and practical skills in inclusive content creation.
