Day Care Centre

The Day Care Centre was established on 1st February 2008 for the welfare of University employees.Day Care Centre provides immense care to children between the age group of 4 months and 3 years and 14 years after their school hours and during vacations.

The main aim of the centre is to provide a challenging and stimulating environment for the child’s optimal development to Cognitive, Emotional, Social, and Physical development by a trained and professional Care Taker recruited through a selection committee.  The Care Taker gives focused individual attention to safeguard the timely needs of the children appropriately. Moreover, the children in Day Care Centre are handled patiently to enable each of them to reach their full potential.  The admission is given to the children of University employees(Regular, Contract, Guest faculty & Outsourcing), research scholars, students, and also children from the employees of Government & affiliated colleges. Further, the Day Care Centre is recognized as a safe, secure, and homely environment that will help them develop and grow.

  • Four A/C rooms (including office room), one big A/C hall, and one small feeding room. The rooms are named a green room (playroom), blue room (Activity room) pink room (sleeping room).
  • Age-appropriate indoor play toys like slide, swing, merry-go-round, See-saw, tunnel, jumbo play station, kid’s cycles & scooters in the playroom
  • Age-appropriate teaching aids, educational toys, CDs, and wooden tables and chairs in the activity room.
  • Wooden cots, wooden cradles, steel cradles, prams, mats & sleeping mattresses in the sleeping room.
  • Refrigerator facility for storing milk and fruits
  • Oven & Induction stove facility for reheating milk and food
  • Aqua guard water purifier
  • V and DVD
  • Open outdoor play facility which includes slide, swing, merry-go-round, revolving platform, and See-Saw.
  • Geyser in the restroom.

The Application form can be obtained in person from the Day Care Centre, Pondicherry
University.
• Application fee Rs. 100 & Admission fee Rs. 1000
• Fee shall be collected once in six months & not on monthly basis.
• Timing 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Holidays followed as per Pondicherry University and no vacation.

  • Parents/ Guardians are strictly advised to leave their children inside the Day Care Centre only.
  • Signature of the register is mandatory while dropping and picking up the child.
  • Parents are strictly advised not to send their ward with any valuable things or jewels.If they lose it, the staff of Day Care Centre shall in no way be held responsible.
  • Parents are requested not to spend their time with their kid inside the Day Care Centre to avoid infections, disturbances for other children during the stay of the child.
  • Parents are requested to communicate about their child only with the Care Taker.
  • Children who are ill are requested not be sent to Day Care Centre.
  • Prior intimation is necessary in case there is going to be any delay in picking up the child.
  • Only parents are allowed to take the children out from the Day care Centre.

Pondicherry University is one of the fastest growing Central Universities in India both in terms of quality and quantity. The Pondicherry University started the Pre-Primary school on its campus in 2010.  This School is meant for wards of University employees.

Mission of the school is to provide a strong foundation for children to blossom into creative, productive and worthy citizens of our nation.

The main objectives of our Pre-Primary Education are to:

  1. Regular employees of the University would be given priority to fill the student strength of 20.
  2. If the above said seats are not filled by the children of Regular employees, the remaining seats willbe filled by the children Contractual staff/ Guest faculty/Research Scholars/Students/ Outsourcing staff through PMC of the University under seniority basis of their appointment.
  3. If seats are still vacant the remaining seats will be filled by the children of Government employees & affiliated colleges of Pondicherry University.
The Application form can be loaded from the University Website. Scanned copy of the filled-in application along with necessary documents should be sent through email to coordinator.pps@pondiuni.ac.inon payment of application fee of 100/- and for SC/ST 50/- through Challan. The application once sold cannot be taken back and the amount will not be refunded or adjusted.

School Uniform:

Every student must wear uniform on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Students can wear colour dress on every Wednesday.

School Working Hours:

                        Morning session                  :           09.45 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

                        Lunch interval                      :           12.30 p.m. to 01.30 p.m.

                        Afternoon session               :           01.30 p.m. to 03.45 p.m.

Students are expected to be present 10 minutes before the commencement of each session. Day Care facilities are available after school hours up to 5.30 p.m. on additional payment.

Regularity & Attendance:

  • Every absence should be supported by leave application duly signed by the parents.
  • Children who are ill should not be sent to School. In case of sick-leave for more than a week, medical certificate is to be produced along with leave letter.

Important note to Parents:

  • Parents/ Guardians are strictly advised to leave their children inside the Pre-Primary school only.
  • Signature of the register is mandatory while dropping and picking up their child from the school.
  • Only parents are allowed to take the children out from the Day care Centre.
  • Parents are expected to co-operate with the school authorities in enforcing regularity, punctuality and discipline in their wards and by taking daily interest in the children’s progress.
  • Parents are strictly advised not to send their ward with any valuable things or jewels.If they lose it, the staff of Pre-Primary School shall in no way be held responsible.
  • Within a week from the date of admission, the parent should equip the child with the prescribed uniform and learning materials.
  • Parents are requested to attend all Parent’s – Teacher’s meetings without fail.
