The Department established in the academic
year 2007-08, aims to bridge the gap between
the theoretical concepts with practically applied
domains of psychology. The two year
M.Sc. (Applied Psychology) course, taught by
competent faculty, instills in the students the
professional competence and training to emerge as mental health professionals. The
Department offers specialized focus on Industrial
Psychology, Clinically related Counseling
and Psychology of Advertising. The Department
is well equipped with state-of-art
laboratory and well stacked library. The curriculum
is integrated with field work in hospitals,industries and advertisement
consultancies, keeping in view of students’placement after the successfl completion of
the course.
Programs of Study
M.Sc., Applied Psychology
Entrance Examination
The selection of the students is through an All India
Entrance Examination conducted by the University.
It consists of 100 objective type questions on psychology
and allied subjects. There may be some questions
on general knowledge and current affairs.
Course content:
The first two semesters are common for all the students
which include papers on Advanced General Psychology
Social Psychology, Psychopathology, Experimental
Psychology, etc.
In the third and fourth semesters,
students have to select either Clinically related
Counselling specialization or Industrial or
Organizational psychology specialization.
Papers on Organization Behaviour, Human Resource
Development, Marketing Psychology, Labour Legislation
and HR Practices, etc. will be taught in Industrial Psychology
specialization. Psychodiagnostics, Neuro-psychology,
Therapeutic Psychology, Educational and Vocational
Counselling, etc. will be taught for Clinically Related
Counselling specialization.
Field work and internship:
Under both the specializations, students have to do
extensive field work assignments at three spells during
third and fourth semesters in HR departments of major
organization or Hospitals, Clinics, NGO, etc. depending upon
their specialization. During the fourth semester students
have to undergo 3 months internship and submit a disserta-
tion to the University.
