CONCEPT OF TWINNING PROGRAMME

Pondicherry University is one of the Central Universities, established by an Act of Parliament 53 of 1985 offers a good number of Research Degrees, Post Graduate Courses and Degree Programmes under regular mode.

The University has established the Directorate of Distance Education during 1995 and has been offering PG Degree, PG Diploma, and Degree Programmes in the country with 65 Service Centres catering to the needs of over 25000 students.

The University has recently introduced the concept of offering courses under Twinning Programme by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding with reputed institutions having the HR, infrastructural and learning facilities.

Twinning is an innovative educational concept which widens the scope of educational opportunity and access for students, keeping in view of their weekly schedules of learning time.

The twinning concept envisages a tie-up between Directorate of Distance Education, Pondicherry University and the Twinning Institutes. The Management and other programmes which are offered by Pondicherry University through Distance Mode are also offered at these Institutions. This concept gives a gamut of choices to the student community to learn and assimilate the nitty gritty of the subjects of the various programmes through a well-designed and meticulously executed academic rigour, with standard courseware, learning kits and virtual ways.

The marked difference between the conventional Distance Education programmes and this innovative twinning programme is that the students would undergo a rigorous extended classroom session on all Sundays/Evening hours during the academic year instead of the usual FIVE days Personal Contact Programmes.

The examination applications form should be collected from the Examination wing (DDE) well in advance by the Institution and distributed to the students. The responsibility of the institutions to collect fee, verify the examination form and forwarded to examination wing for issuing Hall Tickets. The student can obtain details of the examination such as fees, time table, date etc. from the Institution. Hall tickets for the examinations will also be issued by the Institution.

Students will be permitted to appear for examination for a maximum period of three years from the year of completion of actual duration of the programme.
