Pondicherry University is one of the Central Universities, established by an Act of Parliament 53 of 1985 offers a good number of Research Degrees, Post Graduate Courses and Degree Programes under regular mode.

The University has established the Directorate of Distance Education during 1995 and is offering PG Degree, PG Diploma, and Degree Programmes in the entire country with 65 study centres for over 25000 students.

The University has recently introduced the concept of offering courses under Twinning Programme by entering into Memorandum of Understanding with reputed institutions having the HR, infrastructural and Learning facilities.

This Twinning Programme is a novel and innovative educational concept of Pondicherry University which widens the scope of educational opportunity and access for students studying outside the University. Presently, the Directorate of Distance Education is interested to have tie-ups with reputed institutions offering Management and Computer Science Programmes.

The following are the salient features of the Twinning Programme:

• The Twinning concept gives a gamut of choices to the student community to learn and assimilate the nitty gritty of the subjects of the various programmes through a well-designed and meticulously executed academic rigour.

• The Prescribed Proforma available in the Website, shall be filled and sent to the University

• The Selection of the Institutions will be based on the Inspection by an Experts Committee

• After Selection the Institutions will have to enter into an Memorandum of Understanding with the University

• The Admission Notification will be offered by the University on behalf of the Institution

• Admission will be done by the Twinning Institutions itself, adhering to the strict admission norms and eligibility conditions prescribed by the University

• The cost of application forms shall be shared by the Pondicherry University and the Twinning Institutions on a new formula worked out by the University

• Tuition Fees fixed by the University shall be collected by the Institutions and shared by the Institutions as per the Agreement.

• The Study materials shall be supplied by the University

• The Class shall be conducted by the Institutions smoothly engaging experts and the honorarium shall be paid by the Institutions

• The University shall fix the Time table for the examinations, conduct the examinations, publish the results, issue the mark lists and award the Degree.

• The fees shall directly be remitted into the Bank account of the University, operated by the Finance Officer and the share will be released to the Institutions after the receipt of the statement from the Institution.
