Welcome Message

On behalf of the organising committee, it is a great pleasure to extend you a warm welcome to attend “1st World Conference on Solid Electrolytes for Advanced Applications: Garnets and Competitors” organised by Department of Physics, Pondicherry University, India in association with Energy Science Society of India. This Conference will be held during September 6-9, 2017 at Ocean Spray, which is spectacular, green designed facility on beautiful waterfront.

This “1st World Conference on Solid Electrolytes for Advanced Applications: Garnets and Competitors” will provide an unparalleled opportunity to gather leading international scientists, engineers and scholars to discuss all the aspects of science, technology and applications of solid state electrolytes particularly on lithium garnets.

The topic of the conference is not only limited to lithium garnets but extended to research work of other electrolytes and electrodes for all type of advanced batteries. This conference brings together world leading experts to discuss both recent advances in their respective work, and to raise current challenges and identify key areas where significant contributions can be made for the realization of high energy density batteries.

This conference will feature keynote, invited talks, thematically focused technical/oral sessions and poster presentations enabling the delegates to network and exchange ideas with their professional peers and acclaimed experts.

Among the reported inorganic solid Li+ conductive oxides, garnet structured compounds introduced by Prof. Werner Weppner has received great attention in recent times as prospective electrolyte for the all-solid-state lithium batteries. Energy Science Society of India is felicitating Prof. Werner Weppner on his birthday during this conference for his outstanding contribution to the field of solid state ionics.

Also it will feature stimulating multidisciplinary programs that will include cultural programs, excursion to Mamallapuram, visiting and exploring some best places in Pondicherry and nearby places.

About Pondicherry:

Pondicherry, a French colonial settlement in India until 1954, is now a Union Territory. The coastal town of Pondicherry with a French ambience is known for its serene atmosphere. Legend associates ancient Pondicherry with great Hindu sage Agastya. Sri Aurobindo Ashram and the nearby Auroville International Township lend a unique spiritual flavour to the city. The city nurtured two great Tamil revolutionary poets, Sri Subramani Bharathi and Sri Bharatidasan. The climate is tropical (between 18oC and 38oC) with two monsoons, having fairly heavy rainfall in November and very moderate rainfall in July.
