Pondicherry University is a Central University, established by an Act of Parliament No.53 of 1985. It has more than 70 affiliated colleges. The University also conducts courses through distance education. In total, the University has about 60,000 students on its rolls.
The University is looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and computer savvy Controller of Examinations.

Those who have already applied in response to earlier advertisement dated 06.11.2007 need not apply again, but their candidature will be considered with reference to the current advertisement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
CONTROLLER OF EXAMINATIONS:
i) Master’s degree with at least 55% of the marks or its equivalent grade of B in the UGC seven point scale and consistently good academic record.
ii) At least 15 years of experience as Lecturer (Senior Scale)/Lecturer with 8 years in Reader’s grade alongwith experience in Educational Administration
(or)
Comparable experience in research establishment and or other institutions of higher education
(or)
15 years of administrative experience of which 8 years as Deputy Registrar or an equivalent post.
Desirable: (i)Experience as Controller/Deputy Controller of Examination in a Central or State University with affiliated colleges.
(ii) Experience/knowledge of Automation / Computerization of University/Administrative functions.
Note: A relaxation of 5% is provided (from 55% to 50% of the marks) at the Master’s level for the SC/ST category.
A relaxation of 5% is provided (from 55% to 50% of the marks) to the Ph.D degree holders who have passed their Master’s Degree prior to 19 th September 1991.
“B” in the 7 point scale with letter grades, O,A,B,C,D,E & F at the Master’s level shall be regarded as equivalent of 55% wherever the grading system is followed.
The minimum requirement of 55% is not insisted upon for the incumbents who are already in the University system.
Instructions to be followed while submitting the applications.
Applications should be submitted in the prescribed format given below.
Candidates should enclose attested copies of certificates, in support of age, Community, educational qualifications, experience etc. along with the filled in original application.
Candidates are urged to give as much details of their academic/professional accomplishments as possible by attaching certificates, testimonials, brief write up on awards, citations index on their publications, awards and honours received etc.
Apart from one copy of original application with bio-data and enclosures, the candidates must also enclose 7 copies of filled in application and detailed bio-data (without enclosures).
Candidates already in service should send their application through proper channel. While forwarding the application, the organization concerned should enclose attested copies of ACRs for the last five years in a sealed cover. An advance copy may be sent directly, if necessary. However, in such cases candidates called for interview shall have to produce No Objection Certificate or original applications duly forwarded by competent authority of their institutions, failing which he/she shall not be allowed to appear for the written test/interview.
The SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates are eligible for concession and relaxations as per Government of India Rule.
Candidates should furnish their telephone and fax numbers and e-mail ID for fast-track purposes.
The prescribed qualifications and experience are minimum and the fact that a candidate possesses the same will not necessarily entitle him/her for being called for interview.
The University reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview.
The University also reserves the right not to appoint anyone for the position advertised.
Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidates.
The name of the position applied for shall be superscribed on the envelope without fail.
If the cover containing an application is not marked properly as per the information given above, it is likely to be misplaced. The University does not take any responsibility of such misplaced applications.
No correspondence will be entertained from candidates regarding postal delays, conduct of interview and reason for not being called for written test/ interview and not being selected.
Applications received after the stipulated date or incomplete in any respect or not readable easily will not be entertained and no further correspondence will be made in this regard.
Completed applications with all the necessary/required enclosures along with a Demand Draft for Rs.300/- (Rupees Three Hundred only) from Nationalized Bank (Rs.75/- in case of SC/ST/PH candidates) drawn in favour of Finance Officer, Pondicherry University and payable at Pondicherry must reach the Assistant Registrar (Admn), Pondicherry University, R.V. Nagar, Kalapet, Puducherry – 605 014 on or before 07.01.2008.
It is again emphasized that if an application is not in accordance with the instructions given above, the application will be summarily rejected, without any communication.
The University reserves the right to correct any typographical error(s) in this notification.
